    The genius musician Edwyn Collins had two cerebral haemorrhages in 2005. When he initially recovered consciousness, the only words he could say were 'yes', 'no' and 'Grace Maxwell' (his wife - read this). 

    Among a long catalogue of appalling indignities, he also lost control of his right hand. As part of the recovery process, Collins drew these birds - every day - using his left hand, and they've now been turned into wallpaper in a collaboration with Elli Popp. There are five different patterns featuring different birds, in a variety of finishes; all details here. Absolutely beautiful as well as affecting. Thanks to Marina O'Loughlin for the tip.
