I was in Chalk Farm Road when Malcolm McLaren's funeral cortège was due past. I felt v ghoulish standing on the bridge waiting for it to pass, but it was *amazing* when it did. Black horses with black plumes, red and white roses making an A for Anarchy, 'Too fast to live, too young to die' spray-painted onto the side of the coffin. The bus was behind it, blaring out the Sex Pistols, at which point the whole street walked after it, dancing and singing along until it turned away from Camden towards Highgate. I'm glad I saw it - it was weirdly exhilerating and beautiful, and moving.
Report (not entirely accurate - as you can see, streets lined with rather more than "only a few punks"), and rather better pics than mine, here and here.
And I know Buffalo Gals was pioneering & fantastic, but this is still my fave.
